This trip is certainly one of the most beautiful traks in Morocco. For lovers of high altitudes and wild environments this original and complete trek is for them,  the happy valley of the Ait Bougmmez passing by the summit of Mgoun, the valley of the Tassaoute to the high western Atlas with its highest summit of North Africa: The Toubkal.

The beautiful valleys of the central high atlas: Ait Bougmez, the Aarous valley, the Tassaoute valley - The village of Mgdaz- The valley of Ounila - The plateau of Yagour - The Mgoun massif - Mount Toubkal - The valleys Around the Toubkal - The supervision by a team of Berbers.

Day 1 : Marrakech

Arrival in Marrakech, welcome by your guide and then transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 : Marrakech / Ait Bougmez

Departure early in the morning by minibus for the Bougmez valley, passing through the town of Azilal and through the Tizi n'Oughbar pass, picnic lunch en route. Arrival in the valley of the Ait Bougmez, installation in our cottage and then departure for a walk on foot in this beautiful valley. Dinner and overnight at the cottage. 1 to 2 hours of walking. 5 hours drive.

Day 3 : Agouti / Aarous / Azib ikkis

After breakfast we begin our trek, climb to the collective granary of Sidi moussa, to admire the beautiful panoramic view, and then down to the village of Timite, and from there village to village and through the gardens, we join the Valley of Aarous, which we go along until our camp towards the sheepfolds of Ikkis, 6 hours of walk. Difference in altitude: + 700 m, - 200 m.

 

Day 4 : Tessent / Col d'Ait boulli / Azib Izaben

Ascent to the arid pass of Tizi n'Ait Boulli 2800 m, beautiful view on the gorges of Aarous, lunch picnic towards a stream before joining the plateau near the sheepfolds For our bivouac at 2700 m. 5 hours walk. Difference in altitude: + 700 m, - 300 m.

 Day 5 : Summit of Mgoun / Source of the Tassaoute

Departure very early in the morning for the ascent of Mgoun, a hard climb especially at the end in the pierrier, from the summit a beautiful panoramic view is offered to you. You will be able to observe the massif of Central High Atlas and in clear weather the pre-Saharan massifs, after the summit we go along the ridge with panoramic views on both sides, then long descent towards the plateau of Tarkdite and then join the sources of the Tassaoute. 9 hours of walking. Difference in altitude: + 1450 m, - 1300 m

Day 6 : Col de Assderm / Tassgraoualt

Crossing the plateau of wandrass and its sheepfolds installed in rocky crests, climbed towards the pass of Assderm 3200 m and then descent by a beautiful trail in balcony that overlooks the valley of Tassaoute, and then join Our bivouac towards the village of tassgraoualt 2200m.

Difference in altitude: + 350 m, - 1000 m

Day 7 : Amzri / Ichbaken / Ait Ali n'Itto

Our hike will be along the green valley of the Tassaoute, passing through several beautiful villages: Tassguroualt, Amzri, Ichbaken, Ait Hamza and finally Ait Ali N'Itto, Sleeping in a cottage at 1860 m. Difference in altitude: + 150 m, - 400 m

Day 8 : Mgdaz / Col Aourghiz / Tawdja n Tferdzine

Along a wadi we reach the village of Mgdaz, a beautiful village hanging on the side of the mountain, and then we climb to the pass of Aourghiz 2400 m, to change valley , After the village of Taghurte, we climb to the sheepfolds of tawdja n Tferdzine for the bivouac at 2400m, 6h30 walk. Difference in altitude: + 900 m, - 400 m.

Day 9 : Fedghate Pass / Tamda Lake

Departure towards the Fedghat pass 2400 m, and then we cross the Tamda pass 2800m, and then descent to our bivouac next to Tamda lake 2550m, the highest lake of Morocco. 5 hours walk. Difference in altitude: + 550 m, - 300 m

Day 10 : Tamda Lake / Summit Anghmar / The top of the valley Ounila

Very early in the morning we begin the summit climb of Anghmar 3608m, a barren and wild summit, after the picnic descent to our bivouac site at 2000m . 8 am to 9 am walking for the ascent, and 4 hours without climbing. Difference in altitude: + 1050 m, - 1600 m

Day 11 : Upper valley of Ounila / Telouet / Tinzezmine

 After breakfast, departure towards the village of Tighza and then Telouet, the ancient capital of Pacha El Glaoui, crossing village of telouet and then join our bivouac towards the douar n Tinzezmine.6h30 walk. Difference in altitude: + 350 m, - 500 m

Day 12 : Tichka Pass / Afra plateau

Departure towards the Tizi N Pass Mhboub 2650m, descent towards the Tichka pass and then by a balcony trail we reach our bivouac towards the plateau of Afra 7h30 of walk. Difference in altitude: + 870 m, - 700 m

 Day 13 : Afra / Plateau de Yagour

Depart early in the morning along the valley of Afra, passing by numbreux beautiful villages, after the wadi Zat we climb to the plateau of Yagour, bivouac on this beautiful plateau at 2100m, 8h Of walking. Difference in altitude: + 870 m, - 700 m

Day 14 : Yagour / Ourika / Tikhfert

Hiking on the plateau of Yagour, passing in the vicinity of several sheepfolds, during the summer period, the inhabitants of the villages of Ourika and the other neighboring valleys of this plateau climb here with their trupeaux of goats , Sheep and cows ... Descend up the valley of Ourika and then climb to our bivouac in Tikhfert at 1700m, 7h walk. Difference in altitude: + 700 m, - 700 m

Day 15 : Tadrarte / Timichi

We reach the top of the valley of Ourika, and then from village to village we follow the wadi of the Ourika until our place of bivouac not far from village of Timichi, 5 hours of walk. Difference in altitude: + 500 m, - 350 m

 Day 16 : Iaabassen / Tachdirte

We climb towards the village of Iaabassen and then long ascent to reach the col of the same name at 3160m, beautiful panoramic view of the Atlas mountains, after descent towards the village of Chdirte. Dinner and overnight in a cottage. 6h30 to 7h walking.

Difference in altitude: +1400 m, - 1050 m.

Day 17 : Tizi n Tmaterte / Aremd / base camp Toubkal

Departure towards the Tamaterte pass, then down to the village of tamaterte and then climb to the village of Aremd, and the village of Sidi Chamharouch and finally the foot of Toubkal at  3100 m

Difference in altitude : +800 m, -950 m

Day 18: Toubkal Summit / Bivouac at Toubkal Base Camp

Early in the morning we leave for the ascent of the highest peak of Morocco and North Africa, from the summit a beautiful panoramic view of the massif of the high western Atlas, return to the bivouac at the foot of the Toubkal. 6h30 walking. Difference in altitude : +1170 m, - 1170 m.

Day 19 : Tizi N Tzekerte / Azib n Tamsoulte / Imlil / Marrakech

 We climb towards Tizekerte pass 3500m and then long descent to reach the sheepfolds of Tamssoulte, picnic lunch and then down to the village of Imlil by the Mzik pass. 8 hours walking. Difference in altitude : +600 m, - 1800 m.

Transfer to Marrakech 1h30.

Important :

This itinerary is given as an indication, for various reasons due to inclement weather or others, your guide may have to make changes on the program, if necessary, for the smooth running of your trip.

Formalities :

A passport valid for 3 months from the day of entry into Morocco is required (essential), for nationals of the European Community (no visa).

For minors, they must have their own passport.

If the child is traveling with someone other than his or her parents :

An authorization or a legalized letter to the mayor indicating that their parents allow their child to go on a trip with the person accompanying him / her.

Health :

It is about being in good physical condition. During the hike, it is necessary to be self-sufficient and take with you a medicine kit (dressings, aspirin, anti-inflammatory, antibiotics, anti-diarrhea, total screen, lip balm, disinfectant tablets, eye drops).

Water and drinks :

For this trek the supply of water is made in sources, its treatment is recommended (type Micropur). Tea is served at noon (except for the stages where the mules do not follow the same route as the group) and at the arrival of stage. In the evening a tea is offered after the meal.

Portage :

Each participant walks on foot with a light backpack, containing only the personal belongings necessary for the day (gourd, camera, pharmacy kit ...). The rest of the equipment and the equipment of bivouac, as well as the refueling, are transported by the mules ..

The price indicated will be definitive (there will be no surprises of the additional costs!).

Framing :

A professional  guide certified by the Mountain Trades Training Center (CFAMM) will accompany you for this trek. You will be assisted by a team of muleteers and cook.

You will be notified of the schedule and venue with your guide and driver.

Money and tips :

Currency is the Dirham. 1 € = 10.60 Dh.

Allow cash to pay for your drinks and meals if not included in the estimate, and for tips for the team accompanying you during your hike.

Accommodation :

To better enjoy the outdoors and nature, we opted for the formula "Bivouac" as accommodation. The places of our bivouacs are chosen according to several criteria: The beauty of site, the calm, the security, the proximity of a water point .... We provide two-seater tents with foam mattress with sleeping cover, mess tents for the evening meal, floor mats, cutlery and kitchen items. For this trek nights are also planned in gites.

In the city of Marrakech: Nights in 3 * hotel (based on Moroccan classification), in a double or triple room. There is possibility in single room / tent for an extra charge.

Clothing and small items :

It is necessary to wear good quality shoes "hiking in the mountains". It is hot during the day but the nights can be cool. It is therefore advisable to provide outfits accordingly: Anorak - polar - jogging - t-shirts - bermudas - hat or chèque, and sunglasses, gloves and hat will be welcome especially in the evening and early morning.

Headlamp, spare bulbs and batteries, lighter to burn litter, sunscreen cream for skin and lips, toiletries, toilet paper, wipes for cleaning.

Meals :

During the hike they are prepared by a cook. Made with fresh products, they are mainly composed of salads cooked in midday and local dishes in the evening (couscous, tagine ...). A full breakfast is served outdoors or in tents before starting the day. During the bivouacs and for more comfort, meals are served every night under the mess tent. Dry fruits (dates, dried figs, peanuts & pralines) are offered to the participants during the hike.

Materials to be provided :

Cloisonne sleeping bag, normal use 0 to -5 ° C - Hiking sticks especially for mountain descents - tennis or sandal with good soles to walk in the water courts - A rain cape.

Travel and Transportation :

Transfers are carried out in taxi, in group-reserved minibuses, or private 4x4. For your comfort and safety all vehicles have a tourist transport approval.

Always ask for permission before photographing a person.

It is forbidden to photograph or film anything that is military.

Digital cameras: Have enough memory and batteries.

In cities you will find lab-photos to transfer your files to CD.
